TRON's staking system (known as Stake 2.0 since 2023) allows users to freeze TRX and earn two types of network resources: Bandwidth and Energy. Staking for Bandwidth generates approximately 1 Bandwidth Point per staked TRX per day, while staking for Energy generates approximately 1 Energy unit per staked TRX per day (exact ratios change dynamically based on total network-staked TRX). For a user making 5 USDT transfers per week (each requiring 32,000 Energy), staking approximately 23,000 TRX for Energy would generate enough daily energy to cover all transfers for free.

For more modest needs, the math is simpler. A single USDT transfer to an existing address requires 32,000 Energy. At 1 Energy per staked TRX per day, you need 32,000 TRX staked — or you can hold smaller amounts and let energy accumulate over days. Alternatively, staking just 2,000 TRX for one day before a large transfer can provide enough energy for one USDT send without burning TRX directly. Staked TRX earns TRON governance voting rights as a bonus. After unstaking, a mandatory 14-day waiting period applies before funds return to your available balance. For casual users, Energy rental at 3–6 TRX per transfer remains the most practical low-commitment option.
