TRC20 token transfers — especially USDT — require Energy in addition to Bandwidth. Energy is used to execute the smart contract logic behind each token transfer. If your account lacks sufficient energy (obtained by staking TRX), the network burns TRX directly from your wallet. A USDT transfer to a recipient who already holds USDT balance costs approximately 13.74 TRX, while sending to a new USDT address costs around 27.6 TRX.
